Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Apical Periodontitis and Other Oral Health Variables: A Case-Control Study

Background: The relationship between chronic inflammatory diseases and their comorbidities correlation with periodontal has become an increasing focus of research. Objectives: aim this case-control study was to conclude if patients suffering from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) tend have more AP (Apical Periodontitis) than non-COPD patients. Materials Methods: conducted on 30 assigned as cases, associated control linked by age (+/−5 years) sex. Results: A total 60 were recorded, a 12 radiographic variables analyzed. 43 (71.7%) registered PAI (Periapical Index) ≥ 3, there slightly tendency in the group 22 (73.3%) compared those cases 21 (70%), respectively (p > 0.05). Conclusions: It concluded that not significant association levels 3 per patient COPD. In fact, it could be diagnosed teeth endodontic treatments periodontitis tended accumulate caries. Clinical Significance: This establishes, study, some specific aspects oral health COPD, well analyzing importance disease.
